Are the tunes from Encanto driving you to distraction? Lin-Manuel Miranda has a playful answer for parents struggling with earworms from the film.

Since the film’s release in November, parents have been both enchanted and occasionally exasperated by their children’s obsession with its catchy soundtrack. The standout track, “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” has become a near-constant presence in many households, similar to the infectious scores from Miranda’s past works like Hamilton and Moana.

Fortunately, during a guest appearance on a late-night talk show, Miranda introduced a humorous commercial for a fictional product called “Encantix,” designed to provide relief for weary parents whose kids insist on playing Encanto on repeat.

“Have the songs of Encanto brought your life to a joy-filled, yet grinding halt?” Miranda quips in a lab coat. “Now there’s hope! Encantix is the only prescription medication clinically proven to curb your cravings for the Encanto soundtrack.”

In the spoof, one mother shares that her children were listening to “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” up to 300 times a day. Thanks to Encantix, though, they’ve managed to reduce it to a mere 125. “Now I can spend less time singing and more time enjoying a drink at work,” jokes security guard Carlos, holding a drink.

Sadly, Encantix doesn’t help with other catchy tunes, so parents still dealing with Moana anthems may be out of luck. A voiceover comically notes, “Encantix is not intended for use to curb Hamilton, Moana, or any other Disney musical.”

Miranda’s light-hearted take on his music is refreshing, and we can only hope that he’s grappling with Encanto earworms just as much as the rest of us. For more on parenting and navigating these musical challenges, check out some of our resources on home insemination and other related topics here.
