Just when I thought I was all set with my Christmas and birthday shopping (Maddie turns 3 just days after Christmas), she starts saying she’ll ask Santa for “a new dolly with lots of milk and a doggie.”
Um, a doll? Really? I didn’t buy one—partly because I can’t stand them! And don’t get me started on pink or princess themes. Maddie loves all things girly, and I honestly don’t get it. Why can’t she be into LEGOs or soccer, or at least something less frilly?
But, of course, she’s my Maddie, and while I may not be a fan of dolls, pink, or anything princess-related, my heart melts for her. I’m slowly starting to embrace her love for all things girly (I can’t believe I’m saying this) because it’s so delightful to see her be her sweet, goofy, pink-loving self. I adore watching her embrace the magic of the holiday season, so I’m rolling up my sleeves and getting her that “new dolly with lots of milk and a doggie” from Santa—just in case the real Santa forgets! Now I just need to figure out which one to choose, considering there are literally thousands of dolls out there.
What gifts are you planning for your kids this holiday season? Anything you secretly dislike?

In summary, while I might not be a fan of dolls and all things pink, my daughter’s joy is contagious. I’m learning to appreciate her girly preferences, especially around the holidays.
