Hold onto your shiplap, folks! Chip and Joanna Gaines, the dynamic duo behind our favorite home renovations, are making a triumphant return to television with their very own network. Yes, you read that right—a network packed with programming that feels like a dream come true!
Set to launch in summer 2020, Chip and Joanna are teaming up with Discovery to take over the DIY channel. Right now, they’re busy curating a lineup of engaging content for both the network and its streaming app. Fans of Fixer Upper can breathe easy, as reruns will be available around the clock. Plus, the couple plans to feature a heartwarming show centered around their family life.
“Chip and Joanna Gaines have become beloved figures since the debut of Fixer Upper, and Discovery is thrilled to deepen our partnership with them,” stated David Thompson, CEO of Discovery. “They embody authenticity and relatability, qualities that are rare in our industry. People adore them, their design sense, and their entrepreneurial spirit—they’ve crafted a brand that aligns perfectly with our vision at Discovery.”
The big news was first revealed last fall when Chip and Joanna appeared on The Late Show with Peter James. “You’ll get to watch our kids grow and share our journey, even if there’s a bit of a delay like everyone else, but we can’t wait to be back,” Chip shared excitedly.
After concluding their hit HGTV show, Fixer Upper, last spring, the couple took some time off to focus on their expanding family, including the birth of their fifth child, Crew, in the summer of 2018. But rest assured, they’ll be back with a bang after a much-deserved break (and no, raising five kids while managing a lifestyle brand and authoring best-selling books doesn’t really count as downtime).
“Our goal with this network is to inspire, uplift, and create connections within our communities,” the couple stated in a joint press release with Discovery and their Magnolia brand. “We’re aiming for genuine programming that brings families together.”
So far, the yet-to-be-named network is expected to include long-form content covering various topics such as community engagement, home improvement, gardening, culinary arts, wellness, entrepreneurship, and design aesthetics. And for those eager to revisit Fixer Upper, the entire series will be available on-demand through their streaming service.
The couple is also set to star in a new signature series that explores their hobbies, projects, and family life. Personally, I think many of us are itching for a show solely focused on how Joanna manages to keep her hair looking flawless every day, but this new venture sounds just as promising.
“The key difference this time is that Joanna and I will share more of our life experiences,” Chip told reporters. “Instead of focusing solely on construction and design, we feel there’s a broader narrative to share, and that’s what we’re excited to explore.”

With an array of content designed to inspire and connect communities, fans can look forward to a delightful mix of their favorite renovations and personal stories.
