Congratulations, you’re 13 weeks along! Here’s what’s happening this week…

MIND

Now that your pregnancy is public knowledge, brace yourself for a flood of unsolicited advice from folks who couldn’t pick a ripe cantaloupe if their life depended on it. It can be incredibly frustrating, but don’t let that overshadow the valuable insights from experienced parents who actually know what they’re talking about. You know, the kind of advice you want to hear—not the random stranger warning you against that Snickers bar. Seriously, forget about that person!

BODY

At this stage, you’ve officially wrapped up your third month, and you might find yourself in one of pregnancy’s more awkward phases. Instead of that cute, round baby bump you imagined, you may feel like you’ve just indulged in one too many boxes of cookies. But fear not! There are still plenty of positives to celebrate this week. Your risk of miscarriage has decreased, morning sickness is likely to ease up soon, your energy levels are on the rise, and your uterus is finally moving up from your pelvis. This means less pressure on your bladder, so those frequent trips to the bathroom might start to dwindle!

BABY

Your little one is growing rapidly, with their tongue and vocal cords beginning to develop—get ready for those first cries after birth! Right now, your baby is about the size of an espresso cup, which might just remind you of your pre-pregnancy coffee habits.

NEST

While you’re feeling a bit better overall, you could be struggling with sleep due to your organs shifting and that delightful weight on your… well, everything. Now is a good time to try sleeping on your side (preferably the left) to promote healthy blood flow to your baby. A pregnancy pillow or even your partner’s pillow can make it much easier to find a comfortable position for those achy joints and back.

Summary

At 13 weeks pregnant, while you may be navigating unsolicited advice and body changes, there are numerous reasons to feel optimistic. Your risk of miscarriage has lowered, morning sickness is tapering off, and your baby is developing rapidly. Embrace the journey, and don’t hesitate to seek advice from those who truly understand the experience.
