Renowned actor Matthew Johnson has once again demonstrated his commitment to community service. Together with his wife, Sarah Johnson, he established the Live Well Foundation, a nonprofit aimed at empowering high school students to lead active lives and make informed choices for a brighter future. Since its inception in 2008, the foundation has positively impacted over 2,500 students across 37 schools in states such as California, Louisiana, New York, Ohio, Tennessee, and Texas.

However, Johnson’s charitable efforts extend beyond his foundation. This holiday season, he has joined forces with Wild Turkey, where he serves as creative director, and the disaster relief organization Operation BBQ Relief. As part of Wild Turkey’s annual “With Thanks” campaign, they are expressing gratitude to first responders nationwide. The initiative kicked off on November 1 in Los Angeles, where Matthew, Master Distiller Frank Russell, and a dedicated team of volunteers prepared and delivered 800 turkey dinners to over 20 firehouses in response to the wildfires plaguing Southern California.

“Partnering with Operation BBQ Relief for the Wild Turkey ‘With Thanks’ campaign is incredibly meaningful,” Matthew stated in a press release. “We had no idea when we planned this event that California, a place I hold dear, would be struck by such devastating fires again. It’s a privilege to provide meals to those who risk their lives every day. We are here to honor their dedication and hopefully inspire others to engage and support their local communities.”

After gathering volunteers, Matthew took to the grill to assist in preparing the substantial number of turkey dinners, which were generously donated by Butterball, the official turkey sponsor of Operation BBQ Relief. He also led efforts to cook and package an additional 800 meals for local shelters, thus extending their support to those in need within the community.

In a live session on Operation BBQ Relief’s website, Matthew introduced key contributors involved in the effort and highlighted the unique aspects of this year’s initiative compared to previous ones. Following the Los Angeles event, Matthew and Wild Turkey plan to continue their support for Operation BBQ Relief throughout November, with stops scheduled in Dallas on November 5, New Orleans on November 12, and Chicago on November 19, where they will continue to express their gratitude to first responders.

Wild Turkey, an official supporter of Operation BBQ Relief, is also contributing $50,000 to bolster their mission. “Community is at the heart of Wild Turkey—from our close-knit distillery team to the local residents who have stood by us,” Russell emphasized. “Each year, we honor those who show extraordinary commitment to their communities. We are thankful to have Matthew Johnson on board to help us take action and give thanks this holiday season.”
