The #MerengueForMoms initiative is officially underway, aiming to support families in need by providing one million diapers. Here’s how you can participate:

  1. Gather your baby, a partner, or a friend, along with a box of Huggies®.
  2. Play the song “Suavemente” and showcase your best family-friendly dance moves in a video.
  3. Challenge a friend to participate in the fun.
  4. Use the hashtag #MerengueForMoms when sharing your video on Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok (or submit it directly to us).

Remember to submit your video by 12/31/19 using #MerengueForMoms for it to count.

Keep your videos under 30 seconds!

For every video using the hashtag from December 3, 2019, to December 31, 2019, Huggies will donate 100 diapers to the National Diaper Bank Network, with a goal of providing up to one million diapers to families facing diaper need.

Understanding Diaper Need

Diaper need affects one in three American families. Approximately five million babies and toddlers under three live in low-income households, and government assistance programs do not classify diapers as a basic necessity. This shortage impacts the overall well-being of both children and parents, as many cannot work or attend school without the ability to leave their babies in childcare. In fact, three out of five parents have reported missing work or school due to a lack of diapers.

The National Diaper Bank Network (NDBN), established with support from Huggies, is a dedicated nonprofit organization working to eradicate diaper need across the United States. The network currently assists 200,000 children monthly. Since 2011, Huggies has contributed over 220 million diapers and wipes to the NDBN, with a commitment this year of 20 million diapers and an additional one million through the current challenge.

Fun Facts About “Suavemente”

The anthem of the #MerengueForMoms initiative, “Suavemente,” originally released in 1999 by artist Elvis Crespo, has been recognized by Billboard Magazine as one of the most significant Latin albums of the last 50 years. Crespo has generously allowed the use of his music for this charitable campaign aimed at aiding low-income families.
