Each store is expected to have between 20 to 30 crates of surplus food available for collection.
As Aldi locations will close at 4 PM on Christmas Eve and remain closed until December 27, a variety of high-quality fresh food will be ready for redistribution to help those in need and to minimize food waste. This donation includes fresh produce, meats, fish, and bakery items that are nearing the end of their shelf life, addressing the critical need for fresh food that food banks often face. Many charitable organizations find it challenging to stock their shelves with perishable items, as donations tend to favor non-perishables.
Last Christmas, Aldi’s efforts resulted in nearly 500,000 holiday meals for individuals and families in need. This year, the company anticipates being able to provide even more.
