This good boy seems to be struggling with his service dog aspirations!
Dogs truly are treasures in our lives, serving as loyal companions and even stepping into roles that help others, like K9 police dogs and service animals. However, not all pups are cut out for the serious stuff, and that’s perfectly okay. Meet Ryker, a German Shepherd whose heart is in the right place, but his skills, well, leave much to be desired.
In a video that has taken social media by storm, Ryker is seen giving it his all during a service dog training session. Unfortunately, much like many of us when faced with a challenge, he falls hilariously short.
OH. MY. GOODNESS.
From the total destruction of a wheelchair to a complete meltdown when the trainer pulls out a walker, Ryker’s antics are nothing short of precious. He seems more interested in chasing after balls than assisting anyone in distress. “Every dog has a purpose,” the caption cheekily states. “Clearly, Ryker’s purpose is not to be a service dog.” And while that may ring true, one can’t help but admire his enthusiasm!
A big shoutout to the folks at the Double H Canine Training Academy in Louisville, KY, for bringing this lovable goofball into the limelight. Ryker quickly became a viral hit, with viewers of all ages celebrating his spirited (yet misguided) attempts at service work. The video is even set to Sinatra’s iconic “My Way,” which somehow makes it even more delightful.
People began sharing their own “Service Dog FAIL” stories, adding to the laughter and camaraderie. They’re trying their best, after all!
If you’re curious about more of Ryker’s daily adventures at the training academy (and who wouldn’t be?), be sure to catch the additional video posted on his behalf. Let’s give a round of applause to all the good boys and girls out there who, despite their training setbacks, are eager to lend a helping paw. Here’s hoping they find loving homes with equally quirky humans who appreciate them for all their lovable quirks.

In summary, while Ryker may not be cut out for service dog duties, his enthusiastic spirit and charming personality have won hearts everywhere.
