The Year 2020: A Rollercoaster of Challenges

The CDC has issued a warning regarding ‘aggressive rats,’ and it seems the year 2020 just can’t get any worse. As the world grapples with the ongoing challenges of COVID-19, many of us have been living in a constant state of anxiety. Initially, my biggest worry was protecting my children from the virus, but as time passed, I found myself grappling with online schooling, running low on essential supplies, and even facing a toilet paper shortage that felt surreal.

Just when I thought things couldn’t take a turn for the worse, the universe decided to add to our woes with reports of aggressive rodents. According to the CDC, the decrease in restaurant activity has led to a scarcity of food scraps, driving these hungry rats to become more brazen and, frankly, terrifying. They are described as capable of inflicting serious harm with their sharp teeth. This growing rodent activity is causing chaos, with increased service requests for pest control and reports of unusual behaviors in these creatures.

Murder Hornets and Other Anxieties

As if that weren’t enough, the infamous murder hornets made headlines, stirring panic among residents. While people have been frantically searching for ways to eliminate these insects, it’s worth noting that there haven’t been any confirmed sightings in the U.S. or Canada this year. So, let’s take a collective breath and ease our fears over these giant hornets.

Sleep, which should be a comforting escape during these troubling times, has been disrupted by vivid dreams filled with anxiety-inducing scenarios. Research indicates that many are dreaming about being overrun by swarms of insects or being too close to others without masks. It seems our subconscious is as troubled as our waking hours.

The Rise of Cybercrime and UFOs

The situation is compounded by the rise in cybercrime, with incidents of Zoom-bombing becoming increasingly common, adding another layer of stress. Furthermore, in a bizarre twist, my child recently informed me about the existence of UFOs, as the Pentagon chose to release footage during such a tumultuous time.

Animal Kingdom Crises

Even the animal kingdom isn’t safe from crises; rabbit populations are threatened by RHDV-2, a highly contagious virus that could devastate their numbers. While it doesn’t affect humans, it mirrors some COVID-19 symptoms, creating even more confusion.

Flying Spiders and Cicadas

Now, we are also being warned about the emergence of flying spiders, but don’t panic—these are not a new breed spawned from the pandemic. They belong to the Larinioides Sclopetarius species and have been around for some time, known to travel by wind rather than flying.

To top it all off, a swarm of cicadas is set to make its appearance this year, adding to our collective anxiety about the unknown. With so many strange and unsettling events unfolding, it’s challenging to discern fact from fiction. My personal resolution has become clear: I’m staying inside for the foreseeable future.

Conclusion

In summary, 2020 has proven to be a year filled with unexpected challenges, from aggressive rodents to anxiety about hornets and strange dreams. With every new development, it becomes clearer that taking care of our mental health during this time is just as crucial as addressing any external issues.
