Delicious Ice Cream Cake Recipe

Pregnant woman bellyhome insemination kit

Yesterday marked a special milestone as my little one, Max, turned five. While I might not have been ready for him to grow up so fast, I certainly couldn’t say no to his request for an ice cream cake to celebrate.

My partner, James, often reminisces about a delightful “Yodel Pie” from his childhood, which featured just three simple ingredients: Yodels, ice cream, and hot fudge. While it sounded tasty, I had a feeling I could elevate it. Instead of using store-bought hot fudge, I whipped up a homemade version. I also had some vanilla ice cream and Oreos on hand, so I crushed the cookies and mixed in a generous amount to create an Oreo ice cream that far outshines anything from the store. Warning: this is definitely a treat that’s rich enough to be a heart attack in a bowl!

I truly wish everyone could experience the deliciousness of this cake because it’s simply incredible. If you’re eager to try it yourself, here’s what you’ll need:

  • Two boxes of Yodels (or any Swiss snack cakes), each cut into six slices.
  • Two gallons of your favorite ice cream, softened.
  • Hot fudge: While you could use a couple of jars from the store, my homemade version made all the difference and only took about five minutes to prepare.

Here’s my quick recipe for the fudge:

Simmer one container of sweetened condensed milk, one bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips, one unsweetened baking chocolate square, and one tablespoon of butter until melted. Stir in one tablespoon of vanilla, and that’s it!

Now, it’s all about layering. Start with a layer of Yodels, then add ice cream, followed by hot fudge. Keep repeating until you reach the top of your bowl. Don’t forget to sprinkle on any chocolate flakes from cutting the Yodels, then pop it in the freezer for a couple of hours to set.

The kids loved it so much that they practically licked their plates clean—James included! They’ve already requested this dessert for every birthday celebration this year, which is perfect since it’s hard to mess up.

Happy birthday to my sweet boy!
