Andrew Whelan, a spokesperson for Albertsons, stated, “Albertsons Companies has decided to phase out our own home delivery fleet in specific areas, including Southern California, starting February 27, 2021. We will transfer that segment of our eCommerce operations to logistics providers that specialize in these services.”
This move aligns with California’s Proposition 22, which has altered labor regulations to classify drivers as independent contractors.
