It was a chilly January afternoon, and there she was, lounging in the dining room, soaking up the sun’s warmth. The golden rays illuminated her fur, and for a moment, I was taken aback by the sheer volume of her white coat. She appeared so dignified, yet a pang of sadness hit me as I considered her age.
Sometimes, I forget how many years she has graced our lives, blocking out the reality that she may be nearing the end of her journey. She had a tendency to express her displeasure by having accidents in the house if left alone too long. And let’s not forget the countless vet bills for everything from stitches to X-rays.
Those initial years were a true test of our patience and commitment, making me question our decision more than once. However, like any parents, we adored her through the challenges and learned as we went.
Despite the chaos that ensued when we welcomed children into our lives, Luna remained a steadfast presence, adjusting to her new role in the background. The kids affectionately named her “Lulu,” and as time went on, they grew to cherish her gentle spirit amidst the noise and energy that filled our home.
