In a heartfelt two-part series on Instagram, Ryan Thompson, the caretaker for Lady Gaga’s dogs, shared his experience following a shocking attack that left him injured and resulted in the theft of the singer’s beloved pets. Although the dogs have now been returned, Thompson is still in the hospital recovering and has taken the time to reflect on the traumatic events of that day.

“Just four days ago, as a vehicle sped away and blood flowed from my gunshot wound, a little angel came over and lay beside me. My frantic cries subsided as I looked at her, even though I realized the blood pooling around her small body was my own,” Thompson began, recounting the harrowing incident that took place on February 24, 2021.

He poignantly described how he held onto Asia, the only one of Gaga’s three dogs that remained with him during the attack. “I cradled Asia as best I could, grateful for all our adventures together and apologizing for not being able to protect her brothers. I promised to do everything I could to save them and myself,” he wrote.

The other two dogs, Koji and Gustav, were abducted during the incident but were later returned to Gaga after she offered a substantial reward through an emotional Instagram post.

Thompson continued, “I was hopeful that my calm yet urgent pleas for assistance, along with clear descriptions of the dogs, would garner enough police and media attention to ensure the boys’ safety. I glanced back at my guardian angel, feeling grateful that at least she was okay.”

In a follow-up post, he expressed immense gratitude for the support he has received throughout this ordeal. “I’m currently recovering from a very close brush with death, and while I’ve mostly stayed away from the growing media frenzy, my appreciation for the love coming from around the globe is overwhelming,” he shared.

Thompson also emphasized his thankfulness for the police’s swift action that led to the safe return of Koji and Gustav, as well as their commitment to finding those responsible for the crime. He thanked friends, family, and his clients for the uplifting dog videos and photos that helped boost his spirits during recovery. “Seeing the joy on their faces when they mentioned my name keeps me motivated to heal and play with them again soon,” he added.

He concluded by acknowledging the first responders and healthcare workers who saved his life, stating, “You literally saved my life and helped me take those first wobbly steps again. I can’t express my gratitude enough.” To Gaga, he said, “Your pups are safe now, and our family is complete… we did it!” He also recognized the singer for her unwavering support during such a traumatic time, stating, “Your kindness has meant the world to me and my family.”

As he continues on the path to recovery, Thompson looks forward to the joyful moment when he is reunited with Asia, Koji, and Gustav, anticipating the warm welcome of puppy kisses.
