The Eleanor Roosevelt doll features a floral dress, pearl necklace, and a stylish black hat, perfectly timed for International Women’s Day on March 8, which celebrates women’s achievements across various fields. “Barbie is proud to honor Eleanor Roosevelt as the latest addition in the Inspiring Women collection. Her years of service and advocacy have inspired countless individuals to raise their voices,” Barbie tweeted.
Roosevelt served as First Lady from 1933 to 1945 during her husband Franklin D. Roosevelt’s presidency. She was a prolific writer, authoring six books and penning thousands of articles, while also hosting weekly press conferences aimed at women reporters to amplify her messages. A dedicated humanitarian, she went on to serve in the United Nations, chairing the Human Rights Commission and contributing to the drafting of the 1948 Declaration of Human Rights.

The “Inspiring Women” doll series was launched in 2018, beginning with notable figures such as Amelia Earhart, Frida Kahlo, and Katherine Johnson. Alongside the new Eleanor Roosevelt doll, Barbie is also launching its first digital series, “Barbie You Can Be Anything,” which promotes female role models. The inaugural episode, titled “Your Voice,” will be available today at 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT.
This series aims to engage young audiences in discussions about activism and the importance of using one’s voice for positive change. The first episode features a dialogue with activists of all ages, including Maya Patel, Zara Johnson, and Emma Thompson, along with a performance by DJs Amira & Kayla. “With over six decades of inspiring future generations, Barbie remains committed to connecting with fans through innovative online experiences,” McKnight added. New episodes will be released every Saturday throughout March.
