Looking for a Home for This Unique Small Dog Who Prefers Women Over Everyone Else

Meet Prancer, a spirited 2-year-old Chihuahua who’s ready for adoption. Described as a “neurotic, man-hating, animal-hating, children-hating dog,” he’s not your typical pup, but he may just be the perfect fit for the right owner.

Currently fostered by a compassionate, albeit weary, family in New Jersey, Prancer is waiting for someone who appreciates his quirks. “I have to believe there’s someone out there for Prancer, because I am tired and so is my family,” said his foster mom, Rachel Smith, in a refreshingly candid social media post.

Prancer came into foster care a bit overweight and dressed in a cashmere sweater, complete with a bacon, egg, and cheese treat in his crate. He was previously owned by an elderly woman who treated him as though he were a human companion, leading to his dislike of just about everyone and everything. “His first week was spent in fear without showing any personality. As awful as it sounds, I kind of preferred him that way,” Smith remarked. “He feels more like a vessel for a traumatized Victorian child haunting our home.”

Prancer is particularly fond of women and has a strong aversion to men. “He hates men more than women do, which is saying something. If you have a husband, don’t bother applying—unless you both dislike him!” Smith added.

Despite his unique challenges, Prancer is loyal, protective, and housebroken. However, he cannot live with other pets or children. “If you have other dogs or cats, don’t apply unless you want them to be shaken like a ragdoll by a 13lb ball of fury,” Smith shared.

So, who would be the best match for Prancer? “He would thrive in a home with a single woman, a mother and daughter duo, or a lesbian couple,” she explained. “If you live in an apartment or condo, be prepared to keep him away from your neighbors, as he tends to have a bit of a barking problem. He’ll need to be put away when guests arrive, much like a vacuum cleaner.”

For anyone interested, Prancer is available for adoption through the Second Chance Pet Adoption League. Remember, he’s only 2 years old and could live for many more years, possibly until he’s 21, fueled by pure spite. If you think you’re up for the challenge, Prancer is waiting!
