Among those parents who have received at least one vaccine dose or want it soon, 75% plan to get their children vaccinated either immediately (48%) or after observing the vaccine’s performance (29%). Conversely, 63% of parents who are hesitant about vaccinating themselves also prefer to wait before vaccinating their children. Notably, 58% of parents unwilling to get vaccinated themselves will also refrain from vaccinating their kids.
Mollyann Brodie, an executive vice president at the Kaiser Family Foundation, emphasized that increasing vaccine demand will require tailored strategies to address individual concerns. She highlighted that logistical barriers, informational needs, and a lack of awareness about eligibility are common among those still undecided about vaccination.
