The pandemic has been a rollercoaster of chaos, but amid the madness, some new habits have emerged that we’re not ready to let go of. As we transition back to a more typical life, there are definitely some changes we want to hold on to. Here’s a look at nine pandemic habits we’re keeping for the long haul.

1. No Lines at the DMV

Post-pandemic, we better keep the appointment system! The days of waiting in long lines filled with confusion are over. It’s much more convenient to schedule a time and skip the discomfort of those outdated chairs while avoiding the chaos of clueless individuals in front of you. Let’s hope this practice sticks around!

2. Masking During Flu Season

Let’s face it: no one wants to inhale anyone else’s germs. Wearing a mask during flu season is a habit we should continue. It’s a simple way to protect ourselves and others from nasty illnesses that spread easily.

3. Grocery Delivery

The ability to have groceries delivered right to my doorstep is a game-changer. No more wrestling with shopping carts full of screaming kids or dealing with crowded aisles. A quick order and a delivery at my convenience? Yes, please! And if you’re interested in exploring more about at-home grocery solutions, check out this post.

4. Cultural TV Experiences

From the bizarre world of “Tiger King” to the wholesome adventures of “The Mandalorian,” we’ve been spoiled with entertainment. Let’s keep the tradition of binge-watching and exploring new shows alive. Who doesn’t want more Baby Yoda in their life?

5. Working from Home

The Zoom mullet—business attire on top, pajamas below—is now a staple of remote work. Employers have realized we can be productive from home, so why go back to the daily commute? Let’s continue to embrace this new work-life balance.

6. Weird Pandemic Hobbies

Whether it was baking bread or taking up painting, many of us discovered new passions. These hobbies brought joy and creativity into our lives. Post-pandemic, let’s continue to nurture these interests instead of letting them fade away.

7. Athleisure Wear

Are they pajamas or actual clothes? Who cares! Athleisure wear has blurred the lines between comfort and casual. We can enjoy wearing leggings and cozy tops without the pressure of traditional fashion norms.

8. Hand Sanitizer

We’ve all become a bit germophobic, and that’s not a bad thing. Keeping hand sanitizer handy is now a must. It’s comforting to know we can quickly clean our hands after touching public surfaces.

9. Honesty About Mental Health

Let’s keep the conversation about mental health real. It’s okay to admit when we’re not feeling great. This newfound honesty can help foster connections and support among friends and family.

Post-pandemic, I’d like to let go of unnecessary fears and the pressure of meeting fitness goals. While we embrace the positive changes, there are definitely some habits we want to keep.
