In a recent article that reads like a sensational tabloid piece, it appears that Duchess Meghan is not planning to join Harry in England next month. As they prepare to commemorate what would have been Princess Diana’s sixtieth birthday, complete with somber events and a statue unveiling, it seems the last thing on Meghan’s mind is attending. With a newborn and a two-year-old to care for, who could blame her? Add in the family tension—Prince William will be speaking separately from Harry, and Duchess Kate’s icy demeanor is hard to miss. Not to mention Prince Charles, whose relationship with Harry is reportedly strained after that explosive interview with Oprah. Has everyone forgotten that on a day meant to honor Diana, Harry’s father married his former mistress?

Queen Elizabeth must be exasperated. As “The Crown” increasingly resembles reality, managing her family must feel like herding spoiled aristocrats who refuse to acknowledge common people. Meanwhile, Duchess Meghan is under no obligation to wade back into this family drama, not for Diana, not for Harry, and certainly not for the monarchy.

In reality, Meghan’s decision to skip this trip likely has little to do with Harry’s chaotic family. After all, she recently gave birth to baby Lilibet Diana on June 4th. The excitement surrounding the birth of a royal baby is palpable, but let’s not forget the challenges that come with it. No amount of wealth can spare a new mother from the physical and emotional toll of childbirth.

Duchess Meghan is just like many of us—juggling a newborn and a toddler while feeling overwhelmed. Who would want to travel internationally in that state, especially during a pandemic? It’s not surprising that she has chosen to sit this one out. Harry may be a bit of a free spirit, but he clearly respects Meghan’s wishes and is not pushing her to return to a place rife with emotional landmines.

Moreover, Meghan has previously spoken out about her mental health struggles, and with good reason—she deserves to protect her peace during this vulnerable time. Why subject herself to the intense scrutiny of the tabloids, especially when they have shown a penchant for body shaming and racism? No new mother should have to face that kind of public humiliation.

Duchess Meghan should prioritize her well-being. If she can afford to stay in bed, she absolutely should. Snuggling with Lilibet and enjoying some quality time with Archie sounds infinitely more appealing than dealing with the press or family drama. She’s doing a fantastic job as a new mom, and the last thing she needs is the pressure to conform to royal expectations.

In summary, Meghan’s decision to stay home is understandable given her new motherhood responsibilities and the challenging family dynamics. She deserves to take care of herself and her family without the added pressure of royal obligations and media scrutiny.
