Florence Pugh is setting the record straight about her relationship with actor and director Zach Braff. In a candid interview with the Sunday Times, the 25-year-old actress expressed her frustration with the backlash she’s faced from those who believe she should not be dating someone 21 years her senior.

“I think it bothers people that it’s not the relationship they anticipated,” Pugh remarked about her connection with Braff, which began in mid-2019. “I’m 24 years old. I don’t need anyone dictating who I should love. It’s not your concern, and it really doesn’t involve you.”

Pugh further explained the negativity she encounters on social media whenever she shares moments with Braff. “About 70% of the comments were nasty, cruel, and essentially bullying on my page,” she revealed. “I refuse to tolerate that kind of behavior.”

To combat the negativity, Pugh has turned off comments on her posts related to Braff, both with and without him. She has gained recognition for her performances in films like Midsommar, Little Women, and The Little Drummer Girl, and believes that her experience since starting her career at 17 makes her capable of making her own choices in love.

“I’ve been working since I was 17 and became an adult at 18, paying taxes and everything. I’m 24 now. I don’t need anyone telling me who I should love, and I would never impose my beliefs on others,” Pugh asserted.

She also addressed the phenomenon of social media bullying, stating, “It’s strange to go onto someone’s page just to spread negativity. That’s not who I am. It’s odd that this has become acceptable over the past decade.”

“People want Instagram to be a positive space,” she added. “They seek inspiration and happiness. But at the end of the day, this is my life, and I’m not living it for anyone else’s enjoyment or to create a better story.”

Pugh recently shared a heartfelt birthday tribute to Braff, highlighting his generous spirit and ability to inspire those around him. “I don’t mind if you don’t like me,” she concluded. “That’s perfectly fine. In that case, don’t follow me.”
