In the show, Costner portrays John Dutton, the head of one of the largest working ranches in the United States. Though the premise may not seem particularly enticing, it is anything but dull. The series is packed with tension as Dutton navigates corrupt local politics, unsolved murders, and family turmoil, all while showcasing the breathtaking landscapes of Montana.
