Hey there, my darling! I can hardly believe how close we are to finally meeting each other. It feels like we’ve just been hanging around, waiting for your grand entrance. Well, I promise we’re not just sitting around twiddling our thumbs; it’s just that we’re super excited for you to join us!
I can’t even begin to express how thrilled I am to see your little face for the very first time. Just thinking about it makes my heart flutter! I wonder what you’ll look like. Will our chosen names suit you? Will you inherit your dad’s warm, coffee-hued skin or my sparkling greenish-gold eyes? And what about your hair? Will it be soft and curly like your dad’s or sleek and straight like mine?
No matter what, I know you’ll be stunning. You will be our little miracle, and we can’t wait to love you endlessly.
Yet, I sometimes find myself thinking about how others might react when they see us together. You see, while I’m of Italian and Slovak descent, your dad has Puerto Rican and African-American heritage. You truly are our little Neapolitan angel! I’ve had to distance myself from those who couldn’t embrace our love. I won’t allow negativity or prejudice to influence our family. It may have been tough, but I couldn’t live with people who are so narrow-minded.
When I first laid eyes on your dad, I didn’t see color; I saw a kind soul with a captivating smile who made me feel special. I hope you grow up viewing people for who they are, not for how they look.
People often compliment us, saying how beautiful our family will be, and while I appreciate it, I want you to be recognized for your character, not your appearance. What truly matters to us is the kind of person you become. We hope you stay curious, prioritize learning, learn the importance of hard work, and always choose kindness and love.
I’m still figuring out how to navigate the day when you might ask why your mommy is “white” and your daddy is “brown.” Honestly, I don’t have all the answers just yet. I’m both excited and a bit scared as that day approaches.
