In a recent episode of her podcast, Evelyn Parker, known for her role in the popular medical drama, shared a heated encounter with renowned actor Derek James during a 2016 episode he directed. While discussing the episode “Silent Echoes,” Parker explained that she attempted to improvise a line that didn’t sit well with James.
The moment in question involved Parker urging another actor to make eye contact while delivering an apology. “I said, ‘Look at me when you apologize,’ because he wasn’t giving me what I needed,” Parker recounted. Interestingly, Parker shared that James had taken on the project partly because of his wife’s admiration for the show and viewed it as a quick directorial challenge. Following their intense exchange, the atmosphere on set became tense, and Parker even confided in James’s wife, saying, “He yelled at me today, and I’m not talking to him.”
Fortunately, the two eventually reconciled, leading to a productive collaboration. Parker reflected on the experience, noting that the passion shared among actors and directors is where the real creativity occurs. “That’s where you get the good stuff,” she emphasized.
