Meghan Collins shared the rationale behind the installation of side-by-side toilets in her home with her partner, Jake, and let’s just say, the explanation has left many scratching their heads.
Happy Wednesday, everyone! Bet you didn’t think you’d be reading about a quirky celebrity bathroom setup this morning, but here we are—thanks to Meghan Collins. The “All About That Bass” artist recently revealed in an interview that she and her partner, Jake, made a rather unconventional change to their bathroom by installing toilets side by side. We recommend you hear it straight from her, as it’s certainly a unique choice.
The news first broke during a podcast appearance by Collins’s brother, Ryan, who joined her on Nicole Byers’s “Why Won’t You Date Me” podcast. While he discussed his own relationship desires, he pointed out that he might prefer a different arrangement than what his sister and Jake have, stating, “You guys are weirdos! They poop together! She’s in there and Jake’s like, ‘I’m coming to hang out!’”
Collins felt compelled to clarify. She mentioned that she experiences anxiety in public restrooms, so her partner stands guard at the door. As she continued, she mentioned that their biological clocks are so in sync that they often need to use the facilities at the same time, which led them to the decision to have two toilets installed right next to each other. Collins explained, “We just bought a new house and renovated—nobody knows this—but in our bathroom, there was one toilet.” Well, of course, bathrooms typically come with just one toilet! She added, “In the middle of the night, when we’re with the baby, we both need to pee at the same time. So I said, ‘Can we please have two toilets next to each other?’”
Is it just us, or would it have made more sense to have two separate bathrooms or perhaps those cozy little water closet spaces? The internet certainly exploded over this revelation.
While they claim this design caters to their simultaneous bathroom needs, it’s hard to believe anyone truly needs to use the toilet at the same exact moment. Collins did mention that while they’ve used their side-by-side toilets “often,” they’ve only “pooped together twice.” Even if that’s accurate (which is debatable), it still means that Meghan Collins and Jake have shared the experience of being right next to each other while doing their business—twice. So, take that information as you will; it’s enough for us today!
