When Goldberg jokingly mentioned her “COVID butt” while considering trying on the brand’s jeans, Corcoran responded with, “When you get finished with those jeans, and decide you don’t like them, give them to me. I’m gonna make two pairs.” Her attempt at humor fell flat, and the cameras captured Goldberg’s disapproving expression.
Before Goldberg had the chance to respond, Navarro stepped in with a sharp retort about Corcoran’s floral dress, pointing out that it had already been worn by others on TV. The audience quickly rallied behind Navarro for her quick and witty defense of Goldberg.
In response to the criticism, Corcoran later issued a video apology, stating, “I made a joke at Whoopi’s expense, which I now realize wasn’t funny.” She emphasized her long-standing friendship with Goldberg but fell short in acknowledging that such jokes can be harmful, regardless of familiarity.
Goldberg has yet to publicly respond, but it’s clear that making jokes about someone’s weight is never acceptable.
