If you’re in the mood to feel nostalgic and perhaps a bit old, here’s a gem from the past you may not have wanted to revisit: our beloved Saved by the Bell couple, Zack and Kelly, have been “together” for 27 years. Yes, they could very well be grandparents now.

Yesterday marked the 27th anniversary of Zack Morris (played by Mark-Paul Gosselaar) and Kelly Kapowski (Tiffani Thiessen) saying “I do” in the TV movie Saved by the Bell: Wedding in Las Vegas. Thiessen charmingly celebrated the occasion by sharing a delightful throwback photo of the couple on Instagram, writing, “Happy 27th Anniversary Kelly & Zack! Way to keep the love going,” followed by the hashtag #friendsforever.

Wedding in Las Vegas served as the series finale of the original Saved by the Bell, which debuted in 1989 and followed a group of friends navigating life at the fictional Bayside High School in California. The show was a cherished ’90s sitcom that had audiences deeply invested in Zack and Kelly’s romance.

The wedding featured much of the original cast, including Slater, Screech (who sadly passed away earlier this year), and Lisa. Their chemistry remained as vibrant as ever, reminiscent of their high school days. Zack’s devotion to Kelly was legendary, making their engagement and wedding a must-watch event back in the day—so it’s no surprise Thiessen would honor this special day with a post.

Fans of the original series rejoiced when Peacock announced a reboot where Zack and Kelly are living happily ever after. Zack is now serving as the governor of California, and their son, Mac, is attending Bayside High, just like his dad once did.

While Gosselaar didn’t commemorate the day on social media, he has been busy with his podcast, Zack to the Future, where he revisits episodes of Saved by the Bell—something he hadn’t done in 25 years since the show’s conclusion. He collaborates with Dashiell Driscoll, who writes for the reboot and created the Funny or Die series Zack Morris is Trash.

Of course, their love story wasn’t without its twists. Remember Jeff, the college sophomore who stole Kelly’s heart while working at The Max? Zack and Kelly’s brief breakup made Jeff the “most hated man in Saved by the Bell history,” according to Patrick Muldoon, who portrayed him. Thankfully, all ended well, and Zack and Kelly remain our favorite couple—at least in our ’90s hearts. Happy #27, kids.
