Unlike that other book club you left because you missed Chapter 5, Netflix assures us that this book club is different and far more relaxed. “No assignments, no pressure, and absolutely no obligations,” the company stated. “Whether you’ve read the book already or prefer to watch it first, it’s entirely up to you! Remember: there are no wrong choices. We’re here for your enjoyment, whatever that looks like.”
Collins will host discussions with authors, creators, and cast members in a segment titled “But Have You Read the Book?” The inaugural book featured in the November lineup is Passing, set to be released as a film on Netflix on November 10, 2021. “Based on the novel by Nella Larsen, Passing tells the story of two black women (played by Tessa Thompson and Ruth Negga) who can pass for white. Despite their common background, each woman chooses to navigate life on opposite sides of the racial divide in 1929 New York,” the announcement detailed.
