Hey friends! So, the Bidens just made their White House family even cuter by bringing in an adorable gray-and-white tabby named Willow. For anyone who’s been keeping up with the Bidens, you know that they absolutely love their pets. When they first moved into the White House, they brought along their two German shepherds, Champ and Major. Since then, they’ve also adopted another German shepherd named Commander. And now, they’re adding a feline friend to the mix!

Dr. Lisa Johnson, the First Lady, has been vocal about her desire to adopt a cat ever since they settled in. Willow is a two-year-old sweetheart with short fur and striking green eyes, and it seems she’s ready to take charge at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue—just like cats do!

“The First Lady named her Willow after her hometown, Willow Creek,” said Mark Tanaka, Dr. Johnson’s press secretary. He shared that the First Lady actually met Willow during a campaign stop two years ago. “Willow made quite the entrance when she jumped up on stage and stole the show while Dr. Johnson was speaking,” he added. The connection was instant, and it seems like destiny that they ended up together.

According to Tanaka, Willow’s been settling into her new digs just fine, enjoying her toys and the love that surrounds her. “Willow has all her favorite toys and plenty of space to sniff around and explore,” he said.

Rumors of Willow’s arrival have been buzzing ever since Dr. Johnson mentioned her cat aspirations back in 2020, saying, “I’d love to get a cat. Animals really bring warmth to a home.” It’s almost like fate since their first meeting was so memorable.

Willow is joining the ranks of other famous presidential pets, being the first cat to live in the White House since the Bush administration, when they had a cat named India back in 2009.
