In a heartfelt announcement on his show, Anderson Smith shared the delightful news of welcoming his second son, Oliver Luke Jones-Smith, born through a surrogate. The little one joins big brother Leo, who will turn 3 in May.
“This is Oliver Luke Jones-Smith,” Smith announced, as images and a charming video of the baby appeared on screen. “He weighed in at 6.5 pounds at birth, and I couldn’t be happier. He spends most of his time sleeping and eating, but he already seems like a wise little guy.”
Smith, 54, also mentioned that his “closest friend and former partner” Benjamin Jones is Oliver’s legal parent, and they are in the process of adopting Leo as well. “Leo calls me ‘daddy’ and Benjamin ‘papa.’ We’re a family,” he said, adding that Leo’s last name will be changed to Jones-Smith.
Despite parting ways romantically in 2018, Smith and Jones have maintained a strong friendship. Jones was present during Leo’s birth in 2020 and has been actively involved in co-parenting. “It may be an unconventional setup, but I knew he’d be an amazing dad, and he truly is,” Smith reflected. “We’re exes, but we’re family, and we care for each other as co-parents.”
Smith expressed gratitude towards their surrogate for her kindness and dedication in carrying Oliver. He announced he would be taking some time off from work to spend with his children, concluding his special announcement with wishes of “love, laughter, and happy days” for his viewers.
