Listen up! Roy Kent has finally crossed paths with Oscar the Grouch, and it couldn’t be more delightful. Brett Goldstein, known for his role as the cantankerous football player Roy Kent on ‘Ted Lasso,’ recently shared his experience meeting the iconic grouch. The actor posted a photo on Instagram, celebrating his upcoming appearance on ‘Sesame Street.’
“I made my way to Sesame Street (all you need is to ask, preferably with a song) and it was even more amazing than I had hoped,” Goldstein expressed, describing the taping of the beloved children’s series as “the best day” of his life. He found everyone on set to be exceptionally funny, brilliant, and welcoming. “I managed to greet all the residents, except for Snuffleupagus, who was napping—though I did see him snoozing and he snores less than you’d expect,” he shared.
Goldstein further praised the cast and crew, highlighting the positive energy that fills the street. “Thanks to Elmo, Grover, Big Bird, Oscar, and Cookie Monster; sorry if I frightened you,” he added with humor.
His co-stars and friends from ‘Ted Lasso’ cheered him on, with Hannah Waddingham, who plays Rebecca Welton, expressing her excitement over the photos, while Juno Temple, portraying Keeley Jones, affectionately commented, “My dear friend, you are shining so brightly.”
Last autumn, Goldstein earned an Emmy for his remarkable portrayal of Roy Kent, the outspoken yet tender-hearted coach who engages in yoga with a group of women in their 60s and often swears in front of his young niece. Goldstein is not only an actor but also a writer for the award-winning Apple TV+ series created by Jason Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, Brendan Hunt, and Joe Kelly.
Goldstein’s episode of ‘Sesame Street’ is set to air later this year. For more fascinating stories, be sure to check out our other blog posts.
