Amanda Kloots, co-host of The Talk and a former contestant on Dancing with the Stars, is set to bring her heartfelt memoir about her husband Nick Cordero’s battle and tragic passing due to COVID-19 to the big screen. Originally published in June 2021, the book chronicles the emotional journey Kloots faced during her husband’s illness, which ultimately took his life in July 2020 at the age of 41.

Producers Denise Di Novi and Margaret French Isaac, known for their work on beloved films like Little Women and Edward Scissorhands, will be at the helm of the film adaptation. Kloots, alongside her sister, Anna Kloots, who co-authored the memoir, will pen the script for the movie. “Anna and I are so thankful to Denise and Margaret for this opportunity to bring our story to a new audience,” Kloots shared on social media. “Working together again to adapt my memoir into a screenplay has been a wonderful experience.”

Kloots began sharing updates about Cordero’s condition on social media in April 2020. Throughout his three-month hospitalization, the Broadway actor faced numerous complications while on a ventilator. Reflecting on that time, Anna Kloots expressed on Instagram, “Those months were filled with tragedy and fear, but also with hope and beauty. They taught us about the strength of community and love.” She added that she was honored to help transform this story into a memoir and is now excited for the film adaptation.

In addition to her writing and television work, Kloots is a single mother to her 2-year-old son, Elvis, and manages her own fitness business and clothing line in collaboration with her sister. In announcing the film news, Kloots emphasized the importance of keeping her husband’s memory alive, saying, “You say their name, you tell their stories, you share their art and music!”
