This led us to create Proudly, which is truly for us and by us,” she explained.
Union’s relationship with her mother significantly influences her parenting style. “I try to remember my teen years to better relate to Zaya,” she said, reflecting on her own experiences. “I wish my mom had checked in with me more during those years.” She noted the importance of open communication within her family, especially regarding the challenges Zaya faces as a transgender child in today’s political climate.
As for how she and Dwyane keep the spark alive in their relationship, Union shared their weekly date nights and spontaneous outings. “We take drives up the coast, blast music, and just enjoy each other’s company,” she said. “It’s all about finding those moments together.”
