Cardi B and Offset have proudly introduced their newest family member! Say hello to Wave Set Cephus, born in September 2021. The couple, who had chosen to keep their son’s details under wraps, unveiled his name and shared heartwarming pictures on Instagram. Now seven months old, Wave is already stealing hearts. “When Set suggested Wave, I was sold!” Cardi B tweeted along with a video showcasing a diamond “wave” necklace. “THAT HAD TO BE HIS NAME!”
Wave joins his big sister Kulture, 3, as well as Offset’s children from previous relationships—daughter Kalea, 7, and sons Jordan, 12, and Kody, also 7. The entire family is featured on the cover of Essence magazine, accompanied by a revealing interview with the couple, who have been married since 2017.
“After we got married, that’s when I first met his kids,” Cardi, 29, shared with Essence. “I always wanted them to love me, and they really do. They express that to me. I hope we maintain a wonderful relationship.” Offset, 30, chimed in, saying, “It’s a blessing to have them all together, and a wife who treats them as if they’re her own. It could be complicated, but I don’t experience that, which is beautiful.”
In their interview, Cardi and Offset also discussed their decision to keep Wave’s identity private for a time, citing negative online comments as a key factor. Earlier this year, they made Kulture’s Instagram account private due to the hurtful messages they received. “We encountered many sad things regarding Kulture—mean behavior that even the older kids haven’t faced,” Cardi revealed. “So many individuals post cruel things just to provoke a reaction from us.” For them, keeping Wave out of the public eye was the best approach. “We want to protect our feelings,” added the “Bodak Yellow” artist, “because we become very, very angry and upset.”
