We might also deny requests for pancakes at dinner after they’ve already had them for breakfast. Or we might insist that bathing is still necessary if they’ve gotten dirty after a day of play. The frequency of these refusals can be overwhelming, leading to a longing to say “yes” instead.
Yes, you can enjoy that new video game. Yes, I’ll buy you that adorable stuffed animal. Yes, you can have that exciting new toy. Unfortunately, many parents struggle to grant these simple wishes, especially during the holiday season, when the expectations are even higher.
Toys“R”Us and Toys for Tots: A Partnership for Joy
For over a decade, Toys“R”Us has collaborated with the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation to bring joy to children living in poverty in the United States, a staggering 16 million of whom are in need. Through various fundraising efforts both online and in-store, Toys“R”Us has successfully raised over $31.6 million and donated 3.75 million toys to the Toys for Tots initiative. This program is further supported by the Toys“R”Us Children’s Fund, which is dedicated to charitable efforts.
This year, former NBA star Marcus Johnson has joined the campaign as “Marcus Claus,” urging customers to donate and help fulfill even more holiday wishes for children in need. As part of the ongoing #NoWishTooBig initiative, families are encouraged to participate alongside Marcus Claus in supporting Toys for Tots. It’s an inspiring movement, and I highly encourage everyone to get involved.
Making a Difference for Families
In an exciting twist, inspired by the heartfelt stories from Thanksgiving Project applicants, Toys“R”Us, Toys for Tots, and our organization have united to ease the holiday season for struggling families. Together, we are providing one hundred $250 gift cards to deserving parents, ensuring that many children will experience joy on Christmas morning. I can only imagine the smiles on their faces.
Additionally, three fortunate families will be awarded a remarkable opportunity: a $1,000 shopping spree at Toys“R”Us. Just think about the difference that will make in their lives! It gives me chills just to think about the impact.
The 100 $250 gift cards will be mailed out shortly, and recipients have been notified.
