Hello! It’s your mom here, and I’m eagerly awaiting the day I finally get to hold you in my arms. Your nursery is nearly complete in our new home. While leaving the city was bittersweet, we made this move to ensure you and your older brother have access to top-notch schools. Our new place features a spacious playroom, a large yard, and four bedrooms for you, your brother, and perhaps even another sibling in the future.
We’ve been counting down the days until you join us. What’s taking you so long? Are you being considerate of the other expectant moms in our circle? It’s very thoughtful of you, but the truth is, nearly everyone is either pregnant or welcoming their first or second child. You should have seen our holiday cards this year—half of them were announcements of new arrivals! Rest assured, no toes will be stepped on when you finally arrive.
Are you trying to teach me that patience is indeed a virtue? I understand—it’s not exactly one of my strengths. I manage quite well with your big brother, but put me in a traffic jam or face tech issues, and my patience wanes.
Are you worried that our love for your brother will limit the affection we have for you? Let me assure you, my love for him does not take away from the excitement I feel about having you in our family. In fact, the love we have for your brother only heightens our anticipation for you. We look forward to witnessing the bond you both will share as you grow.
Do you think being in my belly will make me feel nauseous? Don’t fret; we have three bathrooms in our new home, and I would gladly offer my allegiance to the porcelain throne for your comfort.
If you’re concerned about causing back pain, know that I’m ready to enroll in prenatal yoga. I can’t wait to embrace that experience!
Are you worried that I’ll be disappointed if you turn out to be a boy (which I suspect) rather than a girl (as your dad believes)? Sweet little one, know that I will welcome you with open arms, regardless of gender. Plus, it’s one less thing I’ll have to learn how to manage!
