I’m The Other ‘F Word,’ And It’s Totally Amazing

Hey friends! So, here’s the deal. When it comes to describing myself, the F-word fits just right. Nope, not that one, but some even better ones: Friend. Fabulous. Fun. Fierce. And yes, Forty-seven.

But let’s be real; you won’t see many folks like me on screen. Sure, there’s the occasional nod to the older mom or midlife mom, but she’s usually painted as that awkward, overachieving type who’s a bit lost. Seriously? That’s not how it is at all.

I’m a proud middle-aged mom, 47 years young, and every wrinkle and little sag tells a story. I’m not that cute 29-year-old in Uggs, sipping a fancy coffee with perfect kids. Well, I do love my coffee—Dunkin’ is my go-to because it’s cheaper and less pretentious, lol!

I’ve earned my stripes through real-life challenges. I’ve homeschooled two teens, navigated the chaos of life with them, kept my husband sane during corporate shakeups, and still find time to be hilarious and enjoy my girl time. You know, that precious time when you get to rediscover yourself—if you can remember who that is!

I just checked out The Other F Word on Amazon, and let me tell you, I laughed so hard I almost peed (thank you, 47!). The character Sherry, the Lyft driver, is totally my spirit animal—I’m like her on the road, taking on drivers who forget how to drive safely. It’s also refreshing to see a show that tackles topics like menopause and yes, even vibrators!

“The best customers at my home sex toy party were ALL over the age of 40. We know what we want and we’re not afraid to get it—plus, we can actually afford it!”

What I love about this show is that the director, Lisa, was told by industry insiders that there was no market for a show about women in midlife. She didn’t believe it, though, and funded the show herself. And guess what? It blew up! Season 1 got over a million views, and Season 2 had over 80,000 in just a month. That’s a big middle finger to the naysayers!

Speaking of formidable, did you know that women make over 85% of all consumer purchases—from cars to healthcare? So let’s ditch the stereotypes and give us stories that reflect real women.
