This morning kicked off bright and early, and I noticed you already took note of the disarray in our home. So let me share the story behind the mess and our day:
The Heap of Damp Blankets by the Entrance
Since the laundry room is conveniently located next to the landing, that’s where they ended up. The girls decided to share a bed last night, and to our surprise, our oldest had an accident. This left the youngest waking up in quite an uncomfortable situation. It was a rather comical event, and instead of stressing over the bedding, we focused on comforting them. I can relate, as I’ve had my share of unfortunate wake-up calls (usually on my side of the bed).
The Sticky Tabletop
With all the nutritional advice floating around these days—“No red dyes! No gluten! Embrace organic!”—we are practically left with just fruits and veggies. So, I offered the girls peaches. Let’s just say it turned into peachageddon. There was peach debris everywhere! At one point, our oldest was under the table, passionately arguing about her rightful peach. Meanwhile, the toddler took the opportunity to sneak off and attempt to feed the core to the baby. It was a bit chaotic, but don’t worry, Little One is just fine.
The Bathroom Floor
I’d rather not discuss it. Trust me, we did our utmost— you should’ve seen the state of the other guy.
The Backyard
You might not have noticed yet, but our entire silverware set has mysteriously found its way into the backyard. I realize it’s dark outside and time for dinner (which is another saga I’ll get to shortly). I initially planned to serve finger foods, but then the kitchen situation unfolded.
The Kitchen
While I was putting the baby down for a nap, the girls decided they wanted to help with the dishes, which resulted in a few broken cups. As for dinner, they managed to pull all the labels off the pantry cans and shred the loaf of bread. So, a pizza is on its way!
Amidst the wreckage, with crumbs in our bed, wet towels wafting an unpleasant smell in the bathroom, pee-soaked laundry at the entrance, broken glass in the trash, and a host of mystery meals lined up for the next few weeks, there was something beautiful today. We witnessed love in action: sisters who cherished each other enough to share a bed, one sister trying to help her baby sibling, navigating potty training, and a sudden fruit identity crisis. We really banded together.
I know you don’t typically seek excuses, but please pardon the mess; we were busy creating memories.

In summary, while our home may be in disarray, the love and laughter shared today made it all worthwhile.
