My husband is quite the catch. His muscular build turns heads, and his striking features are the envy of many. Women openly admire him, and even older ladies comment, “All men should aspire to look like that.” It’s no surprise that when he walks with our kids, he draws attention from all around. I can only imagine how many eyes were on him when he used to carry a baby in a sling; just about every woman loves a handsome dad.
He’s well aware of his appeal, and it’s not exactly a revelation to him. Just last month, he attended a work convention in Las Vegas. After a night out, he returned to his room only to be approached by two young women in bikinis who were across the hall. They were celebrating a bachelorette party and invited him for drinks!
He politely declined, letting them know he was married. One of them, seemingly unfazed, mentioned she was engaged, but then asked if he was truly happy in his marriage.
This is part of my life—albeit not every minute—but it is something I have learned to accept. The added attention and possible temptations are inevitable, considering my husband is a charming businessman who travels for work. He can’t help that he looks fantastic in a suit.
While sharing this Vegas story with a friend recently, she asked, “Doesn’t that make you worry about him cheating?” I didn’t hesitate to respond, “Not at all.” I have faith in my instincts and in him, and I have no valid reasons to doubt him. In fact, I have countless reasons to trust him:
- He enjoyed plenty of freedom in his youth, so I believe he’s already experienced what he wanted to.
- He’s independent-minded and doesn’t easily yield to pressure.
- As a devoted dad, he prioritizes our family time, which reassures me of his values.
- He often checks in while he’s away, asking about our day and making sure everything is okay at home. This simple communication shows he cares.
- He actively plans outings for just the two of us or with friends, demonstrating that he values our relationship.
- Sometimes he compliments me, telling me I look beautiful, which boosts my confidence.
- He consistently texts or calls me goodnight, no matter the time zone. I don’t even need to initiate the call!
- When women flirt with him, he shares those stories with me, which keeps me in the loop.
- He surprises me with chocolate, a small but meaningful gesture that says he understands me well.
- Finally, he frequently gives me a playful smack on the rear, which is his way of showing affection and interest. As long as he’s interested in me, I believe the likelihood of him straying is minimal.
If that connection ever changes, then maybe I’ll reconsider my trust, but for now, my husband has my unwavering confidence, even amidst the bikini-clad admirers.
