When it comes to films claiming to portray the raw reality of motherhood, I often find myself feeling let down. They rarely capture the true essence of being a mom—think stained clothing, soft bellies, chaotic homes, chronic exhaustion, and the emotional rollercoaster that comes with it. Thankfully, that’s about to change.
In the upcoming film Tully, Charlize Theron takes on the role of a mother, and her performance essentially brings the complexities of motherhood to life on screen. Initially, I was doubtful; Hollywood typically shies away from showcasing the authentic struggles of parenthood.
