Joanna Gaines recently posted a picture showcasing the aftermath of a challenging night with her son, Crew. Known for her inviting home aesthetics, Joanna is the type of friend who greets you at the door with an apology for any “mess,” despite the scene being nothing short of perfect. You can almost hear soothing music playing in the background as you step into her immaculate space, void of crumbs and clutter.
In her Instagram update, she refers to the chaos as “evidence of a late night up with my boy.” If you’re wondering what evidence she’s talking about, then we’re on the same wavelength, and we can bond over the realities of parenting.
Using hashtags like #blowouts, #allnighters, and #thisis40, Joanna gives a nod to the sleepless nights that come with having a baby. Despite the challenges, little Crew appears to be nestled in a beautifully arranged environment that reflects his mother’s keen design sense.
The photo features a pristine cream rug (I mean, how does she maintain that with five kids?), an open drawer creating a hint of chaos, an aesthetically pleasing wipes container, and a few neatly stacked baby clothes. Meanwhile, Crew relaxes in a stylish bouncy seat. If this is what a “blowout” looks like, I can only imagine how the rest of her home remains so picture-perfect.
Now, if we were to swap homes, my version of a rough night would involve crumpled diapers on the floor, baby spit-up stains in various locations, and who knows what else splattered on the walls. While reality might hit at Joanna’s home too, it seems that’s not what she chooses to share on her Instagram feed.
Of course, one could assume that this carefully curated “mess” is part of her brand, but it’s hard not to chuckle at the notion that this serene setting is somehow a result of a tough night. It’s as though it was plucked straight from the pages of a lifestyle magazine.
Since the arrival of baby Crew, the fifth child in the Gaines family, we’ve been treated to snippets of their picturesque life, and while I might roll my eyes when Joanna calls those designer onesies a mess, I can’t help but want to see more of their charming home life.
Keep those glimpses coming, Chip and Joanna! May we all aspire for our “mess” to look as delightful as yours.
