14 Weeks Pregnant: Time to Enjoy Food Without the Nausea! Let’s Go!

Congratulations! You’ve reached 14 weeks into your pregnancy, and it’s time to embrace the second trimester!

Mind

Entering your fourth month means you’re about to experience some delightful aspects of pregnancy. Think ultrasounds, mood swings that are less dramatic, and—finally—a return to eating without the fear of barfing. Many expectant mothers find this stage to be the most enjoyable, so soak it all in!

Body

Just when you’re settling into this new phase, your body continues to throw some surprises your way. As your belly grows and you slip into maternity wear, you might notice some itchiness—totally normal as your skin stretches. You may also feel some sharp twinges in your abdomen or groin as your round ligaments stretch to support your uterus. And don’t be alarmed if you start to fumble or drop things; the hormone relaxin is working its magic, loosening your pelvis and cervix for childbirth, but it can also make you a bit clumsy.

Baby

Your little one is growing rapidly and becoming more like the infant you’ll soon meet. At this stage, your baby is about the size of a fist, can wiggle around in response to your touch (as if to say, “Hey, stop poking me!”), suck their thumb, and yes, even pee! They’re drinking amniotic fluid and peeing it out—get used to the idea, at least it’s not all over your clothes (yet).

Nest

With your burgeoning 14-week belly, it’s time to dive into maternity clothes if you haven’t already. Many women consider this one of the best perks of being pregnant. Who can resist stretchy pants? Opt for breathable, natural fabrics you can layer, as your internal temp tends to soar during pregnancy, leading to some serious sweating—hello, multiple changes of underwear!
