“If a student was in crisis, the hall of residence would have no idea… we could disappear for weeks and it would go unnoticed by staff here,” the student explained, highlighting the concerning lack of oversight. It raises the alarming question of how the young man’s four roommates failed to notice his absence from both his room and common areas for such an extended period. On the night before his discovery, the boy’s stepfather reached out to friends, but no one was able to contact him, which adds to the mystery of this tragic situation.
One of his close friends attempted to rationalize the prolonged silence, mentioning that he sometimes “went off the grid for a week or so.” Unfortunately, when authorities finally located his body, they were compelled to enlist a disaster victim identification team due to the extreme state of decomposition.
