While many celebrate Halloween with simple decorations, like a bat-shaped projector on their garage, artist Jake Morgan has opted for a more dramatic approach, meticulously creating a horrifying murder scene that caused passersby to call 911.
Morgan’s display features several lifelike dummies, a body bag, and a wheelbarrow overflowing with gory fake body parts, all enhanced with his homemade “blood.” While the scene is undeniably creepy, one can’t help but admire the level of detail—perhaps he should charge admission for a glimpse of his morbid masterpiece.
Police Involvement
In an interview, Morgan shared that a concerned neighbor contacted the authorities, mistaking his elaborate display for an actual crime scene. “I heard from neighbors that police cars were parked in front of my house quite a bit,” he told insiders. When officers showed up and inquired if the eerie scene was his, Morgan humorously responded, “Oh, you mean the bodies and all the blood?!? Oh yeah, that would be mine.”
Despite the initial alarm, the police appreciated his creativity and left without issuing any citations, as his talent for hyperrealistic production design isn’t against the law. Inside his home, Morgan has added “dueling projectors” that create the illusion of zombies trying to break in through the windows.

He embraces the fun of Halloween wholeheartedly, admitting that maintaining his realistic gore comes at a cost. “When it rains, it washes off, and I have to reapply it every morning,” he explained. “As people stroll by with their dogs, I’m out there slinging gallons of blood, waving and saying, ‘Just out here watering the bodies.’”
