In a troubling development, actor Thomas Middleditch, renowned for his portrayal of Richard Hendricks in HBO’s “Silicon Valley,” finds himself facing allegations of sexual misconduct stemming from an incident at a closed Hollywood club in 2019. These claims are part of a broader investigation by the LA Times into the now-defunct Cloak and Dagger Club, where numerous allegations emerged against both the management and its high-profile patrons.
The accusations were brought forth by a young woman, Sarah Collins, who was 21 years old at the time of the event in October 2019. Collins recounted that during a party at the Cloak and Dagger Club, she and her girlfriend encountered Middleditch on the dance floor. Having met him previously, Collins noted prior concerns from the staff regarding Middleditch’s behavior. Notably, he had previously downplayed the significance of the #MeToo movement, describing it as “scary” for men.
On that night, Collins alleged that Middleditch made inappropriate sexual advances toward both her and her girlfriend. After she rejected his advances, he allegedly continued to pursue her and groped her in the presence of club staff. Following the incident, she reported the behavior to the club’s management but felt her concerns were dismissed. “I felt like they didn’t take me seriously,” Collins stated. “I told the owner, Adam, that he needed to listen—this was not acceptable.”
Collins later observed Middleditch engaging in similar behavior with another woman at the club. Subsequently, she received messages from him on Instagram, which included an apology for making her uncomfortable. “Hannah, I had no idea my actions were that weird for you,” he wrote, expressing shame over the incident.
Collins also revealed that a week after her complaint, the club’s owner reached out to her, indicating they were skeptical of her account. “Adam called to get a second opinion on him because they didn’t trust my story,” she explained. “They were more concerned about their famous patrons than the safety of women.”
The Cloak and Dagger Club was shuttered in January after multiple women came forward with allegations of sexual misconduct against its ownership and clientele. Many accusations were directed at Adam Bravin, who allegedly exploited his position to flirt with staff and create a hostile work environment. In a statement to the LA Times, Bravin acknowledged his ignorance regarding the power dynamics at play and admitted that his flirtatious communication could have been inappropriate.
While Middleditch is the only celebrity named in the club’s allegations, the investigation has highlighted the troubling patterns of behavior among other unnamed prominent members. As of now, Middleditch has not publicly commented on the accusations.
