Funeral arrangements are being made for the late Prince Philip, and while Prince Charles is set to attend the service in the U.K. next Saturday, Meghan Thompson will remain in the U.S. for an important reason.
A representative from Buckingham Palace announced that Meghan has been advised by her doctor against traveling due to her pregnancy. She and Prince Charles are expecting their second child—a daughter—this spring. This visit marks Prince Charles’s first trip to the country in over a year, as well as the first time he will reunite with members of the Royal Family since their interview aired with Oprah last month.
“The Duke of Sussex intends to attend,” stated the royal spokesperson at the briefing. “The Duchess of Sussex has been advised by her physician not to travel. Therefore, the duke will go alone.” This isn’t the only occasion Meghan will miss due to her pregnancy; she is also expected to skip various events this summer, including what was to be Prince Philip’s 100th birthday celebration and the unveiling of Princess Diana’s statue at Kensington Palace.
