“I’ve dreamt of this line since childhood. My kids love being in the kitchen with me, and I want to make the experience smoother,” she explains. “Time really flies. You see your kids grow up before your eyes, and I want to cherish every moment spent with them.”
With two little ones under four during the pandemic, Green describes the challenges of parenting. “I have a three-and-a-half-year-old and a one-year-old who just took his first steps. Managing it all can feel like playing goalie, especially with the stove knobs removed for safety.”
When asked if the excitement of milestones is the same for her son as it was for her daughter, she responds, “Absolutely! It’s just as thrilling, especially since my husband was able to witness our son’s first steps, unlike with our daughter.”
As for staying motivated, Green acknowledges the shared struggle of cooking fatigue, especially as the world opens up again. “I’m all about prepping ahead, cleaning greens right away after shopping. It saves time on busy days.”
Green’s culinary approach pays homage to her mother, who cooked lovingly but rarely sat down for meals. “I want to create nourishing food and still be present to enjoy it with my family. There’s got to be a way to have both.”
To encourage her children to eat healthier, she employs what she calls “sneaky foods.” “I use bone broth in everything—it’s like a multivitamin. I even mince vegetables into their meals. My daughter just tried tacos for the first time after I read her a book about them!”
Green and her husband share household responsibilities, with him stepping up in the kitchen. “He’s learning, and it’s sweet to see him want to help. We have fun cooking together—even if it sometimes sets off the smoke alarm!”
Choosing to raise their children in New York instead of a gated community, Green reflects, “We want our kids exposed to diverse cultures and experiences. It’s important for us, especially as parents in the entertainment industry, to ensure they have a well-rounded upbringing.”
