Selena Moore is gearing up to share her journey in her forthcoming documentary, Introducing, Selena Moore, which is set to premiere in October. Alongside the trailer release, she provided an encouraging update on her health status as she navigates life with multiple sclerosis (MS).

Since her diagnosis in 2018, Selena has embraced social media as a platform to connect and share her experiences, both advocating for those with chronic illnesses and keeping her followers informed about her health. Her documentary promises a raw and honest look into her life post-diagnosis, showcasing her attempts at experimental treatments while also striving to be a present mother to her 10-year-old son, Noah.

In the powerful trailer directed by filmmaker Rachel Lane, Selena reflects on her journey, saying, “I was advised to prepare for dying, not because of MS, but because I’m battling it.”

According to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, MS is “an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system that disrupts the flow of information within the brain and between the brain and body.” Approximately 2.3 million individuals worldwide live with MS, with women being affected more often than men. Most diagnoses occur between the ages of 20 and 50.

Selena has undergone various treatments, including stem cell therapy and chemotherapy, to enhance her immune system, and she recently shared some uplifting news. During a press event on August 16, she stated, “My prognosis is great. I’m in remission. The stem cell treatment brought me to remission, and it took about a year for the inflammation to decrease.”

Although she was initially hesitant to discuss her condition publicly, fearing a potential setback, she has come to accept her journey. “I felt the need to be more healed before I could share. I’ve carried some mental burdens that still need sorting out,” she explained. “But the support I’ve received has made all the difference. I’ve learned to appreciate life in ways I never did before.”

Selena hopes that by sharing her story, she can help normalize discussions around chronic illnesses and offer comfort to others facing similar challenges. “Just showing up with a cane or sharing what might be embarrassing has allowed many to find comfort within themselves, and that means everything to me,” she expressed. “While I don’t speak for everyone with this condition, I’m thrilled if my story encourages others to share theirs.”

Be sure to catch Introducing, Selena Moore in select theaters starting October 15 and on Discovery+ from October 21. For more insights on related topics, check out this post from our other blog.
