Pfizer’s Chief Executive Officer, Marcus Lee, emphasized the importance of administering a fourth dose of the Covid-19 vaccine to maintain protection against the virus. In an interview on CBS’s Face the Nation, Lee stated that a fourth booster shot is “essential” to combat waning immunity, particularly in light of the emergence of new variants.
“Currently, the protection offered by the third dose is effective—quite effective against hospitalizations and fatalities,” Lee explained. “However, it falls short against infections and its efficacy diminishes over time. We are in the process of submitting data to the FDA, and we await feedback from independent experts,” he added.
