“We hadn’t even used the washer yet, so we didn’t look at any settings,” she adds. “It took two curious kids to pull this off. She hopes to prevent other families from experiencing similar accidents. “I recognize there were ways we could’ve avoided this,” she admits. “This season brings about various dangers, from pool accidents to children left in hot cars. Most of these incidents are indeed accidents. Shaming the parent helps no one. We should be open about our mistakes to help each other keep our children safe. Believe me, that mom is already feeling guilty enough.”
